This is a sightseeing Taxi course focusing on Hofu City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. You will visit Hofu Tenmangu Shrine, Kokubunji Temple, the former Mouri family's main residence, Amidaji Temple, Mitajiri Ofunagura Ruins, and Eiunso.

Hofu-tenmangu is a shrine worshipping Michizane Sugawara who is called god of scholarship and worshiped by many loyalists such as Katori and Shinsaku Takasugi. Also it is said that Hofu tenmangu was built as first tenmangu shirne in Japan.
Umeterasu is popular place as a starting point of Hofu sightseeing, which provides recommended sightseeing area and local information.
Kokubunji is one of the state-sponsored temples built by the direction from emperor Shomu and known as rare temple which still remains same scale and location as original. And also precinct yard has been designated as national ruins.
This place has been designated as national scenic beauty. Museum in this place displays 20,000 treasures include national treasure and important cultural assets.
This temple is said to have been founded in 1187 by Shigen Todaiji as the Suo Annex of Todaiji Temple. It is a temple of the Kegon sect of Buddhism and is now known as a hydrangea temple with approximately 4,000 hydrangea plants of 80 species. The "stone bath" that Shigen is said to have built for laborers engaged in cutting down timber for the reconstruction of Todaiji Temple remains as a cultural asset. There is another stone bath built in later generations. The stone bath is fired on the first Sunday of each month, and general visitors to the temple can bathe in it for a fee (firewood fee).
Ofunagura.pngThis was a base of Mouri navy. There were residences of navy nearby and still name of place are used. Only a moat and part of waterway for ship remain.
Eiunso is located at the end of Hagiokan route. Hagioukan route is one of the town street built in Edo period for the many purposes such as feudal load visiting Edo shogunate.
The park consists of 1,500 cherry trees, mainly Someiyoshino cherry trees, on 107-meter-high Mt. The park is close to the city center, making it a place of recreation and relaxation for citizens.
They are buried at the cemetery of Dairakuji temple in Hofu. Katori was deceased on August 14th 1912, Miwako was September 7th 1922.
Katori couple moved from Tokyo to Mitajiri in1893. There is still their building remains.
