Trace the footmarks of Kusaka and Katori in The Meiji Restoration
This sightseeing cab course focuses on Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, with the aim of taking you on a historical tour. The period is from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji era. In this Hagi/Nagato sightseeing cab course, you will feel the love between Kusaka Genzui and Motohiko Katori that Yoshida Shoin's sister, Fumi, exchanged with him, and also visit Motonosumi Shrine, which is dedicated to the fulfillment of love.

Birthplace of Genzui Kusaka
There is no house Genzui was born, but there is a stone monument that shows birthplace of Genzui. There is also a stone monument with Waka, Japanese poem of Sanemi Sanjo who was one of the noble of loyalists flee to Chosyu domain.
Hagi castle town
Hagi castle town is grid-shaped town located outside Hagi caslte and there were samurai residence or town house standing in a row. Hagi is still a town where you can walk around with old map because there are still many old street and samurai residence built in Edo period.
Ruins of old Katori residence
Motohiko Katori was the first governor of Gunma prefecture, who got married to Hisa, Shoin’s young sister and directed at Shoka-sonjuku after the imprison of Shoin. This place is said that Motohiko used as residence even the time is unknown.
Cemetery of Shoin Yoshida
This is a cemetery of Shoin’s family with Yurinosuke Sugi, Daisuke Yoshida, Fuminoshin Tamaki, Genzui Kusaka and a disciple Shinsaku Takasugi standing in a row. Also there is a born place of Shoin and Fumi nearby.
Shoin shrine
There are many historical ruins related to Shoin Yoshida inside, such as Shoka-Sonjuku, a private school produced many talented people working for Japanese modernization and Shoin history museum, and Shiseikan treasure house. There is an old residence where Shoin was confined nearby.
Hagi Sea mart
Hagi Sea mart is a roadside station offering fresh foods from producers of north Yamaguchi include Hagi, and generate delicious food culture created by castle town Hagi.
Motonosumi shrine
Motonosumi is a shrine which was separated from Taikodani- inari in Tsuwano Shimane prefecture in 1955. There is an offertory box ahead of tori gate at the exit of back street, which makes your hope come true if you succeed to put a coin in the offertory box.
